A year ago Keanu Reeves met with representatives from Boom! Studios and offered them a story. BRZRKR will be a brutal and bloody comics that tells the story of the demigod Berserker, cursed to commit violence to the point of selflessness. The comics will be released monthly, with a total of 12 issues planned. It is noteworthy that Berserker looks exactly like Keanu Reeves himself.
What is BRZRKR about?
The man known only as Berzerker is half-mortal and half-God, cursed and compelled to violence…even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the world for centuries, Berzerker may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, Berzerker will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.
The newly-minted screenwriter tried to reveal the backstory of the hero (who looks like an actor) who speak dozens of languages, has a super-memory and an excellent sense of humor.
Keanu Reeves often confessed that from childhood he loved comics and that the genre of graphic novels had a great influence on all of his work. As the actor said in an interview with USA Today, as a child, he dreamed of playing in the movie Wolverine, the hero of the comic book series by Marvel Comics. When asked if he would have taken on the role of Berserker, Reeves said yes. As USA Today writes, Boom! has already begun negotiations with Netflix about a possible film adaptation of the future work.
Keanu Reeves will be co-written by Matt Kindt, who has worked on such comics as Spider-Man and Justice League. The artist will be Alessandro Vitti, known for "Secret Warriors," and the colorist will be Bill Crabtree. The first issue of BRZRKR will appear in print and online on October 7, with 12 issues planned to date.
