Psychological horror / thriller “Orphan” with Isabelle Fuhrman in the role of “innocent orphan” made a powerful impression. The role of Esther is firmly rooted in memory as one of the “most infuriating” characters of villainous children. For those who for various reasons have not watched this film (even though it was released in 2009), I recommend fixing this error. And instead of speculating spoilers, I’ll attach a modest synopsis of the original film:
Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard in the role of foster parents, as well as “brother” Jimmy Bennett and “sister” Aryana Engineer did their job perfectly. And although critics smashed the tape to smithereens, the box office exceeded $ 77 million with a budget of 12 million.
What to expect from the prequel?
The work was called Esther. The film tells about the events preceding the move of the heroine to the United States.
Lena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from a Russian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Lena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.
William Brent Bell became the director of the picture. (“The Devil Inside”, “Wer” and “The Boy”). David Coggeshall worked on the script (“Prey”). Filming will start in late summer.
